Gippot Headcoverings: for the Renaissance Spirit, showcases the fulfillment of Corinne Stern’s teenage dream of being a fashion designer, which she had deferred until founding Gippot Headcoverings in June of 2002.
Originally and mainly conceived as Yarmulkes for Jewish women, Gippot Headcoverings have as many applications as you have imagination. Some are reminiscent of Renaissance hats, some of saucy 1930's cocktail hats, some of theatrical costume hats.
Gippot Headcoverings has recently expanded its line of merchandise. Now included are caps for children, chapeaux for men with a sense of style, and Tallit bags.
The newest addition to Corinne’s designs is the Gippbra, made from two Gippot wedded together with a vintage necktie. One size fits most. It is destined to be a hit on the gay/lesbian/transsexual fashion scene. She envisions them in dance halls all over the world.
Currently, Corinne is targeting the Red Hat Society ladies who might not feel comfortable in big hats. She would love to see Gippot Headcoverings being worn among other delightful Fascinators at the Ascot Races, the Kentucky Derby, or at weddings in the UK or Australia.
As a self-taught artist, Corinne takes her place among other outstanding Outsider Artists creating wearable sculpture. She has been a member of Spirit and Kitsch Gallery (“The Art Garage”) in Ithaca, NY, since April, 2006.
Gippot Headcoverings are as much at home as wall décor or on a pedestal in your living room as they are when worn for a special occasion. Box frames display them handsomely.
